Serpentine Cape Tribulation

Gently waves steal in from ocean wide; sweet Pacific sings her homecoming.
Sandy shores embrace and welcome thee;where the rainforest meets the sea
Mangroves wash their feet in salty waters, beneath Tribulation’s canopy.
Serpentine mountains, coiling down to greet the warm Pacific.
Nature’s beauty flowing free.

Cassowary’s crossing, five kites swoop overhead,
The heart of Daintree beating. time remembers all.

People of all nations gather, balmy breezes wash troubles away.
Leave all and let it be; surrender with carefree abandon
To ocean’s blue and gentle waves; azure skies and mile long beaches, set us free.
Geckoes, birds and busy scrub turkeys; forest alive with blue lace monitors,
Saltwater crocodiles lurk in mangroves hungrily.

Cassowary’s crossing, five kites swoop overhead,
The heart of Daintree beating; time remembers all.

With eager hearts they came, fresh from Eureka’s victory
In search of Palmer’s gold greedily, with earnest minds and fortune’s plans
Past Tribulation, up the Endeavour; to Cooktown’s Shangri-la enticingly.
In their thousands they came; fortune seekers of the yellow gold.
Fire in their hearts, dreams of victory.

Cassowary’s crossing, five kites swoop overhead,
The heart of Daintree beating.time remembers all.

The dispossessed, where murdered, shame fell upon the land
Their screams echo still within this canopy; time passes, time remembers all.
As gold ran out, the cedar cutters came; the mighty forest crys.
Peace seekers, dropping out, to Cedar Bay they trekked.
A haven for the hippies in Natures reverie.

Cassowary’s crossing, five kites swoop overhead,
The heart of Daintree beating. time remembers all.
